It happens every year. Emmy voters fail to recognize some of the year’s very best TV shows and performances. Fans register their outrage in angry Tweets and social posts. Life moves on. But this year’s Emmy nominations will likely prove to be more brutal than ever, as the boom in first-rate TV series continues to clash with Emmy voters’ typically stubborn insistence on selecting the same old group of contenders year after year.
